when playing on a server with the dev test version, these lines of code (that I commented) cause the server to crash

@kohtalee0910 May I ask what Java version and build you were using? e.g. Adoptium 17.0.0 or OpenJDK 17.0.0

java version doesn't matter since this was on a regular dedicated fabric server, it isn't anything to do with my IDE

I never said it had anything to do with your IDE. I asked what version of Java you are using on your server because it could be possible that JRE doesn't bundle Apache's HttpCore. I haven't had time to test my theory, but it was the first thought that came to mind.
