Boombox and album cover cannot be right-clicked

Version 1.20.1 forge. Custom music discs can be created just fine and the radio works however the boombox and album cover items are inert.

I didn't know there was meant to be a GUI for either. Both the Boombox and the Album Cover work properly if you hold them in your inventory, hover over a disc and right click that disc to insert it in the album/boombox.

I tried this and it works, apparently this was changed between the 1.16.5 and 1.20.1 versions lol

yeah, I can't get the album cover to work either
