Question

Would it be possible for the mod to treat wood and bamboo-like materials in different ways?

Optional: Details

Hi! I used the "Question" template for this issue since this is a very general suggestion which isn't related to any specific mod. I hope that's okay.

Basically, I think it'd be really neat if bamboo-like materials such as Whistlecane (GotD) and Powdery Cannon (ND) were treated a bit differently from more traditional wood types. There are a few specific examples I can think of for why this would be a good thing:

  1. Some mods may have entirely unique blocks for bamboo. I can't think of any great examples atm other than maybe the Bamboo Mat blocks from Quark.
  2. Some mods could have blocks that look or work differently when made of bamboo. The only example I know of for this is the Bamboo Closet from Woodworks. It has a different GUI name, model, and animation, and also stacks vertically instead of horizontally. Certain blocks would also definitely benefit from an alternate, bamboo-like base texture, like the Cabinet (FD), Table (Twigs), Window (Create), Woodworks variants, etc.
  3. Some modded recipes could be different for bamboo variants. Re:Deco does this with its bamboo furniture by replacing sticks in those recipes with the bamboo item.

I'm not much of a programmer but I do realize this would likely be very annoying to implement, and might even require the entire mod to undergo some kind of reorganizing, since (afaik) it doesn't distinguish between different "Types" in the same way something like Gems Realm does. If it's possible, though, I think it would be a wonderful little QoL addition!

To me it sounds like the use cases for this could be counter on the palm of a single hand, hence making a system for it seems overkill. Would be easier to just add manually those 1-2 blocks that they are missing

That's completely fair! If it's actually possible to manually add variants for specific wood types then I do think Whistlecane and Powdery Closets would be awesome. Everything other than completely custom blocks can be addressed with packs, so not really an issue.

Can I get the ID of these missing WoodTypes?
