It would be very useful to be able to set labels and change the colors of tickers for organizational purposes. I have been making do with text that is not visible in the live layout, which works okay, but this would be way more convenient!

Labels should be possible already, if I'm not wrong. You need to enable the layer widget in the editor, then double-click the name of the Ticker IN THE WIDGET and you should be able to rename it. The custom name should then show on the element instead of the normal "Ticker" label.
