Feature description

Is there a way to make it so that all logs that are broken when a tree is harvested are registered as being broken by an axe? I'm working on a progression mod; one of the features makes it so that logs always drop sticks unless mined with an axe. This means that when a tree is mined with both of our mods installed, every log that breaks except for the first one drops sticks. Is this a feature that could be added?
