The ability for planes to drop supply crates would be pretty cool.
This could be done by creating falling chest entities with parachutes attached until they land and become a solid block. An alternative could be a custom block that admins can set the despawn rate for.
A couple of examples on how normal blocks can be made to move around can be found on minecraft hide and seek servers or through picking up blocks with the gravity gun or portal gun mods.
