Hi! I really enjoy this mod, so here some enhancement tips at the end of this issue!
During my winter vacation, I can't count the amount of hours, I've passed exploring all the possibilities this mod offer! I was able to obtain my first Alveary, then I've tried to obtain a sapling of every trees, with stats like 1x1 and as huge as possible.

Problems

Lately I've tried to grown one of my best saplings of every trees, in a new biome, in hope that this setup could allow additional butterfly'es to spawn. So I've worked hard inside a BOP Rain Forest Biome to make it happen... Equivalent of 80% heat and 120% Moisture.

It work fine, but I've encountered two problems.
A) Anytime I try to leave my new encampment, my old computer experiment a huge performance drop. That mean mob's IA having a hard time to update themselves, and the time of the day who goes back and forth. Its some kind of latency.

B) It looks like "rendering distance" is higher than what I've set in my f3 options. I've set my rendering distance at 10/32. But I'm still able to have a clear view of a butterfly freely moving as far as more than 30 blocks away from my position.

How to reproduce

  1. Grow a good amount of forestry' trees in a jungle biome. As equivalent, any biome who create the green hive (swamp hive) will do. You may have to cut down a few of the previous vegetation to do so.

  2. Up to 8 new species of butterflies start spawning and goes in every directions. I guess they also allow Neutral mobs to spawn some more, as I've also encountered a large amount of parrots of Ocelots and a bunch of new hive blocks in the vicinity. Note : While being inside that biome, I was able to recover up to 24 butterflies with my apiarist net, in less than 5min. Prior to their capture every single one of these mobs where able to use their IA in an adequate way, I mean there was no stand still, or no flying toward walls.

  3. Try to leave the area for ± 200 blocks away. It seems like if the previous chunks are kept loaded. If you have a old computer like me, this action, or being at a second place will create an unusual amount of lag. I've experimented lots of lag, while moving around some already explored area in the nether dimension.

  4. Note. I've check my rendering distance in f3 menu and in concern of these butterflies, it seems to be a little higher than what this is supposed to be. This might only be my opinion. I was at 10/32 and I was able to see butterflies moving from quite afar (more than 30 blocks away)! Solving this could help reduce the performance drop.

Thank you for reporting!

Conclusion :
Let me know if I could help some more about this issue, I'l update this comment as soon as my mod version will be up to date, and here a few ideas I had while playing.
.# Passing from a challenge to an another one is taking too long. In order to concentrate the fun around this mod, could some action be faster? Like the Bee processes speed, or having higher odds with tree breeding?
.# Some items could benefit being involved in more crafting recipes. As example Could we use refractory wax to craft alveary blocks? And when you play single player, is there is a was to reuse research notes, once you don't need a bunch of then anymore?
.# Allow forestry fluids to be used or involved in others mods recipes? As example Immersive engineering have some use for Ethanol, and Thermal expansion also transform Seed's oil. Could it be possible to allow theses mods to use all the same fluid when similar purpose happen?

So far, while using version 380, my computer is more stable, I could move around my base, after a visit to the previous BOP Rainforest biome, and enjoy seing swalotail butterfly flying with ease arround. Unfortunatly, I still have some lag while inside the nether. On a list of 143 mods, I'm not saying that your mods are the problem. So I'l edit, update this comment as soon as I have more info!

8 Jan to 8 Feb
edit : Edit : Partly Solved, as I've figured out others mods who where creating flowing liquid alike blocks... really less lag now!
