The Gradle Wrapper is a lightweight script that allows you and other developers to specify the version of Gradle to run the project with. It's usually included in the Github repository so developers have a consistent build environment, but it's missing from your repository. Basically, it just makes developers (and your own) lives a lot easier since you just specify the Gradle version in a property file and the wrapper takes care of downloading it.
