Since true compatibility with mods would be very difficult due to the sheer amount of mods, I suggest a whitelist in the config where you can enter item IDs (compostable item) followed by a number (chance to add a layer). This would give modpack makers more flexibility and not have to add other composter mods.

There is CraftTweaker compatibility for this. Check the github wiki!
