After looking through about 10 Bastions and not finding the template, I looked in the .jar file using WinRAR, and stumbled across the recipe for the gilded template using the netherite upgrade, blackstone and gold ingots - I'd never have guessed to look for a recipe for it! My Bad! It was obvious, once I knew what the recipe was, to have the appropriate ingredients in my hotbar and then I was able to discover the recipe in the crafting table.
