There is nothing anywhere saying what the new rods actually do vs just using the diamond rod, except that the Astral rod has better luck in some situations. Do any of the other rods have different stats, or is everything identical to diamond/wood?

The Soul Rod gives you more experience, the celestial rod has better luck at night, and some of them are lava-proof. Other than that, they are identical and I feel like I wasted 4 diamonds on something I should have checked the code for, as I just assumed it would do something like increasing the base luck. The mod adds the capability to have fishing rods with an increased base LOTS or Lure, it just doesn't use it. I'm legit never going to use my diamond rod outside lava fishing, and I'd rather have just made a blaze rod. 300 durability means it will eventually run out. Mending is ridiculously easy to get on a vanilla rod, and so that's what I'll be using day-to-day while the thing I spent four diamonds on in the early game languishes away unused
