I use this mod alongside this mod called Legacy4J which brings legacy console edition GUI to Java including controller support, however I do think that having 1.9+ combat just ruins the console edition and nostalgia feel. Personally I really do not like playing with controller with 1.9+ combat. And as of now, there are currently no other mods other than nostalgic tweaks that tweaks both damage values of tools/weapons and remove cooldown.
