GT6-style connections are handy but have the potential to be troublesome when their behaviour is not desired.
On the other hand, auto-connections can be dangerous, and there is no way to quickly toggle between the two. Worse if on a server, where there is no way

Describe the solution you'd like
Make it so connections return to the old auto-connect behaviour if the appropriate tool (Wrench for pipes, Wire Cutter for wires and cables) is held in the offhand.

Additional context
With this, the GT6-style connection config should be removed, to protect players and packmakers from confusing themselves between packs and config options. (Enforce GT6-style by default and auto-style with tool in offhand)
The durability cost for the tools needs to be taken into account. A potential edge case is tools not having enough durability to complete an auto-connection (for example, a Wrench on 1 durability when placing a pipe which has 2 potential nodes to connect to).

This has not been brought up since then. I believe people got used to the current mechanics so perhaps this is no longer necessary.
