Absolute darkness is too much for me..
Could you maybe make a config setting to control how dark it actually can get?

I'm actually in the same boat, I would love to be able to config the gamma via minimum brightness levels. Everybody on my server finds they have to swing the brightness to 100% during the night just to get a hint of starlight, and then turn it back down to moody during the day, so it doesn't feel like you're playing the game on Mercury.

Your request makes it seems like the only reason you wanted this feature was for the blue hue, so that may be why it's not been tackled yet, @FireEgl

Whether that's the case or not, after having used HD on my server for a week, I'd love this Feature Request for reasons of configurability and control as a server admin.

PS. I don't know what you guys are talking about "blue hue". It doesn't matter what mode I set this mod too, I don't get a "blue hue" in the sky.

I mean really the thing next to absolute darkness is pretty much lowest gamma.

Well, I guess I like it set to "Bright" when above ground at night (love the blue hued light this mod adds from moonlight), and I guess "Moody" when in caves and such (without this mod).. But I can't have both.. =P

I've been having a similar issue, but in the nether. Everything else looks good to me. Caves are dark. I can see a bit a night. But, the nether has awful gamma problems. I have to carry torches to see in the nether fortresses at all.
