PWR operation glitches

With the advent of Pressurized Water Reactor technology in HBM.....comes its hurdles, ill make it as quick and painless as i can

  1. for some reason, even though the control rods are fully inserted into the reactor, the reactor continues generating heat and heating coolant, does this have to do with decay heat or something? i dont know if its a legitimate mechanic or an oversight

  2. The hot heavy water item name is....broken, to put it lightly....here´s a picture

  3. It is EXTREMELY difficult, in my experience at least, to reach a worthwhile power output, however this one is in dispute, further testing is still required

  4. Strangely the PWR´s operations sound doesnt stop, even if all control rods are inserted, and/or the reactor structural integrity is breached

  5. this isnt an issue but more a personal pet peeve, why cant we eject fuel out of the PWR once we insert it?, and why cant we have a SCRAM shutdown like the RBMK? maybe its just in the works, but it makes the reactor feel incomplete

Thanks, and good luck, oh ill also take this opportunity to remind HBM of the RBMK ops glitches i found in issue #1115

thanks for reading

  1. Depending on how the reactor was constructed, it's possible that the control rods don't cover all connections between fuel rods or reflectors, so even when "off" the reactor runs on low power, which kind of mirrors how actual nuclear reactors can't really be turned off like that either.
  2. Known issue
  3. With a decent setup and high-reactive fuels like HEP-239 I found it rather easy with a medium-sized reactor of 26 fuel rods.
  4. The sound will persist for as long as fuel rods are inserted into the reactor
  5. A control panels like the RBMK has is planned and will have all these things.

On issue number 1, can neutrons between fuel rods travel diagonally? also do the neutron sources ACTUALLY emit neutron simulations like the RBMK?

thanks

Neutrons only move in cardinal directions for fuel rods. Neutron sources don't share the neutron simulation, instead they just add neutrons evenly to all rods based on the amount of open connections (either open control rods or no control rods at all), up to a maximum of 20 flux/tick.

PWRs in real life can't do a rod drop like the RBMK, as their rods extend in from the bottom instead of down from the top. Though a scram feature for PWRs would be nice to have. (then again, this is NTM, realism isn't that important)

depends on the type of reactor, i´ve seen some PWRs do SCRAM gravity drop like the CANDU type reactors in canada

as for the new panel idea, a rework from RBMK would be great, i mean it would be cool and octagonal design as in chernobyl series or the simpsons usine sector 8G, where you could open a tab from a console in desk, would be lit
