If Iota contained a bunch of abstract methods for add, subtract, multiply, divide, etc, which those Actions made use of then it would allow add-ons to make easy use of those patterns as well, reducing the number of new patterns that need to be added a fair bit.

I'm going to push this off to 1.1 (or, 0.11 i guess) to avoid scope creeep but yes that's on the adjenda
