I made the book to start the hexerei mod and it crashes my game with it just being in my inventory

Seconding this issue. User created a book of shadows and crashed clientside instantly. When I came near to the table they made it on, I also crashed. Attempting to log back into the server crashes as soon as the world becomes visible. No crash log for server, client only crash. Exit code -1. Seems to persist in a specific area around the item. Nothing in log to suggest issue?

This bricks entire servers and functionally hardbans any unwitting player attempting to use Hexerei. Got this issue while playing the new DawnCraft modpack.

This appears to be an incompatibility between Hexerei and Visual Workbench.

Correction, this occurs when holding the book out and using third person, and when placing it on an altar and destroying it, dropping the book. Rendering the book in any way aside from held out in first person appears to cause the crash.

Have same issue, i menage to delete hexerei, reload server and bring it again so server starts, still You make mod work? Or its completly broken?

I'm having this issue in 1.18.2 - just putting the book in my hotbar and scrolling to it crashes it to a black screen, and can never get back in (single player). I want to use this mod in my modpack for a server, but without a fix for this I can't use it at all. It does it with and without shaders on.

Same exact issue. Only difference for me is, it crashes even in first person because of the Paper Doll mod, which always renders a third-person model on the screen. Btw the modpack is v0.2.0 of one that I've been working on personally.

Another important note in my case, the Suspected Mods are MoreMCMeta (applies an emissive renderer I guess?), PaperDoll (see above), and of course Hexerei. No mention of Visual Workbench, but I believe it.

Edit:

After testing, the crash still occurs without the Visual Workbench mod.
My guess is that the Visual Workbench causes the third-person view of the book to be rendered on the crafting table.
