Custom Food Value json doesn't seem to have an effect

I added a custom food values json like described in the wiki but it doesn't seem to have any effect, restarting the instance several times didn't help. I named the json "changevalues.json" https://pastebin.com/4MCK9NgA

Did I do something wrong?

I have been having the same issue in the minecraft 1.12.2 versions as well. Placing not only the .json file, but the text file and a .cfg file in there as well because all of the other config files in there are .cfg. They were copy and pasted following the same format as what is shown on the help page and it doesn't seem to do anything. i even copied what is shown on that page and pasted it in and it doesn't do anything

I spent some time this morning with this feature in 1.7.10-1.0.0, and it works. I had some trouble at first because it silently fails if there's a formatting error in the JSON, and the ID's are case sensitive. Once I cleared those two issues up the game used my new values.

I just tried re-pasting what you had in github directly into the .json file and it seems to want to work with that now. not sure if it had to do something with updating forge or not or something else happened. Got it to work with single items, and with a little messing around with multiple as well. Thank you for the response. I would recommend using an example with multiple items for people who aren't well educated with programming, i have a little experience so i understand a decent amount of what is going on but all of the syntax with java can make it difficult sometimes. just something to think about and again thank you for your response.

Where did you save "changevalues.json"?
