Sound problems 1.12.2

In the Dec 3 build there's a lot of sound weirdness:
- Jetpacks don't make a consistent sound when in hover modes, instead the sound flickers on and off, which sounds really weird.
- stone macerator has no sounds
- machine sounds all turn off when the game is paused and unpaused in singleplayer. Sounds resume as normal when the machine changes states.
- when walking, nearby machine sounds fluctuate up and down in volume with each step.
- handheld drills make no sound when mining. Not sure if intentional?
Not sure if the last update was supposed to fix some of these, but it seems not to have shipped properly. I'll place these here just in case.
Okay, I understand. I just find 1 weird because you fall gradually, not in bursts like the sound implies. For 2, maybe just combine the regular macerator and the vanilla furnace sound, or use the furnace sound?
In 4, my problem is not that the sound changes with distance, rather that it changes as I walk perpendicular to the machine (I.e. the distance is not changing), and the sound gets louder and quieter repeatedly as if I'm taking giant steps. It's not that bad but I wasn't sure if it was intended as part of the world aware sound system.
Yeah, still no bugs here. I could go into further detail but everything runs as intendet.
Also stone macerator, i can only have 1 sound. I am not an audio artist, and second its hard to make a "good" stone macerator sound, i can not use a soft sound like a macerator for such a havy machine.
Anyway this is finished.
1 is intentional I think(for regular hover mode I think).
3 isn't fixable as that's a limitation of the ic2 classic sound engine. I had noticed that myself before and that's what speiger told me.
Ok yeah that counts for all versions since 1.10.2 (The list)
- 1: Yes that is because jetpacks only play sounds if the engine is working so it flickers to ensure that you have a smooth movement. Also a good indicator. And intentional.
- 2: Yeah that is because i have no audio file for that.
- 3: Yes that is happening for every UI that pauses the game. In multiplayer you can not pause so that won't happen. That system is a thing just so people can fix audio sounds that spam realitivly quickly.
- 4: Yes because the sound only goes so loud for so long. The IC2 Audio Engine is world aware. (The harder the explosion resistance is the bette the sound muffeling)
- 5: Yes that is intentional since i dont like the sounds, they are more annoying and controling them without disabling an entire category is pretty annoying.
I hope that gives a indicator of why i did it that way.
oh and the ping @AtomicWaffle14
Just thought I'd bring it to your attention. Machines not having sounds is not too good. The sawmill also doesn't have sound. Guess it's not important enough...
No need to get snappy at me, I'm just trying to be helpful. If you don't like me, just say it...
Anyways, if you need a looping sound file it's pretty simple to do. I could do it myself in about an hour if you gave me the length the sound clip needs to be. Please don't assume that people don't know what they're talking about.
That was a legit question. Do you know one or do you provide funs for a payed ones. I wasn't joking here.
And no i don't have the sound clips, if that would be the case then i could do it myself. Audio/Video editing is not my strenght but i can do it in a acceptable level, but first i would need actual useable soundfiles.
I could make you a couple of sound files for free if you'd like. I have some experience with sound editing from a course I took last year. I would get free sound samples from freesound.org and modify them.
@AtomicWaffle14 do you know a audioengineer that makes sounds for free?
Or if it is not free do you take over the cost?
