Feature Request: Gyrodine Costs

Preface: The Gyrodine is a cool concept. Manually powered aircraft rather than fueled is a cool concept for the early game. However once you get up to speed there is zero cost/maintenance required. (eg you can fly up and simply hover indefinitely) Adding in an upgrade or two and there is little reason to use the other aircraft.

I have some opinions on how this could be adjusted to feel more balanced, here are some options (opinions)

  • Require constant manual input, maybe space bar (tap tap tap) to stay aloft
  • Add a mechanic that adds a constant and significant drain to food saturation. Pedaling an aircraft is hard after all
  • Overall stat nerfs: Allow no upgrades, make it more vulnerable to wind, things like that
  • Limit max flight time somehow (adding a separate feature request for that)

@Luke100000 That's interesting. I'm using the latest CF version (0.7.5) and fuel seems to work in the vehicles that use it, my comment was that the Gyrodyne has no fuel slot, which I assumed was due to it being a manually powered vehicle.

Per your commit, are you saying that there was something else wrong with fuel globally, or that the Gyro is supposed to require some fuel? (and the lack of fuel slot was a bug)

Its actually for every vehicle where fuel consumption is not explicitly defined. Which is only the gyro right now. So, a global bug basically.

Fuel is actually broken since latest release, thanks for noticing. Usually, hovering would indeed drain.
