Tested in a modded instance with Forge 36.1.4 for Minecraft 1.16.5 with Immersive Engineering version 5.0.0-135. No other mods installed.

The Ear defenders can be put into the maintenance kit, but the configuration settings are not saved once they are removed from the maintenance kit. Configuring them in the engineer's workbench functions normally.
