But one that would require Freon gas.

Input: Water
Output: Ice Block
Energy : x, Used for both creating gas (internal) and run machine.
Fuel : Ethanol(H) + Fluorite(F) + (char-)Coal(C) => H-F-C , Hydrofluorocarbon-wiki
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrofluorocarbon) replaced actual Freon

Fluorite : By product of Limestone or Calcite (calcium) crushing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluorite

So first off, you need to structure your suggestions better, this is kind of a pain to read. It'd also benefit from just some cordial phrasing in regards to you wanting to make a suggestion, rather than making it sound like a demand for us to add.

My immediate points of critque for this suggestion are:

  1. We have no machine to do this in. No machine in IE takes two fluids to make a solid.
I don't like adding a single-purpose machine, we used to do that and it made everything feel very split and poorly integrated
  2. We don't have fluorite as an item.
While you offer the suggestion of getting it from Calcite, that's CaCO3 - there's no fluorite in that.
Additionally, I dislike adding a material with a single usecase, see above. Fluorite would have to do more than just "make ice".
  3. The actual creation of HFC usually involves Chlorine, which is another material we don't have
  4. Finally, a refrigerant doesn't immediately make things cold, it's just really good at transporting heat. So really this process would be a one time deal. You make the gas, you fill some heatpipes with it, and then the machine just uses those for exchanging heat, but you would never lose the gas. Which in turn makes this a very complicated crafting process for the purposes of just making a machine that makes ice.

What about combining redstone and glowstone to make a thermoelectric cooler?

You should at least read my reply above fully...
"I don't like adding a single-purpose machine, we used to do that and it made everything feel very split and poorly integrated"

What's the point of having such a machine?

@Cursedth If you really need ice production, look up Engineer's Decor by Wilechaote. It includes an ice maker block. At least until we can convince Blu to add an ice machine. :)

Blu, not sure if I'm allowed to @ you directly here. Usual platitudes about IE being the greatest mod in the world.
(Seriously, I refuse to play a pack that doesn't include IE now. And Astral Sorcery, but that doesn't apply here. :) )

Anyway, I have been wanting an industrial refrigerator/ice maker in IE for a while now. However, I understand the desire for multi-purpose machines. So, if you don't mind, I have a suggestion or two.

  1. You already have radiator blocks used to make certain machines, mainly the diesel generator. We also have a power generator that uses heat exchange in the Thermoelectric generator. So, create a "heat exchanger" or "cooler" block that requires both, giving a second purpose for the thermo as the "engine" and another use for radiators. Make it need MV or even HV for more interesting wiring requirements.
  2. This "cooler" block can be an attachment or add-on for other multi-block machines to give a small performance boost. Performance upgrades have been requested before for the crusher and other machines, so this can be a use case, and potential replacement for the lubricator from Immersive Petroleum if that is not included in a pack. The idea is that it cools or wicks away excess heat to allow the machine to be pushed or ran harder. Can add to other machines (assembler, diesel gen, etc) externally to give a small boost in whatever would be needed.
  3. This same "cooler" block is then used with other components to form a automatic refrigerator multi-block that can turn water in to the 3 ice variants as well as turn lava into magma block and obsidian (I've never like the instant obsidian from water on lava mechanic in Vanilla anyway). If you wanna get really crazy, maybe also give it the ability to freeze dry foods (there's no food spoilage mechanic in Vanilla, but maybe for greater stacks or whatever) and/or condense potions so they stack (ice chips or just simply one potion has 2 or 3 uses before the bottle is empty).
3a. If you're really against direct ice blocks, then how about using the liquid concrete mechanic, and the cooler just makes super-cooled water, that freezes when agitated, i.e. pored into the world. It flows and freezes a second later, can be shot from the chem sprayer, etc. Then we'd still need silky picks to harvest, and allows problem solving to form the blocks we would need. And the chem sprayer usage can be used for a slow/chill effect or powdered snow effects like turning skellies into strays and such. In fact, the chem sprayer can just create powdered snow in concentrated sprays, and general snow for snow layers in more spread out sprays (thinking of Tango's recent Mega Base, turning a warm biome into a winter biome.)

Sorry for the text bomb, just brainstorming here.
