Game crashed while using the engineer skyhook (didn't crash afterwards, so don't know how to replicate it)

How did it happen?
I was using an engineers skyhook on a steel cable going down, as soon as I mounted onto the hook the game froze up and crashed. Cables were connected to the steel connectors on a steel post.
