Try adding an upgraded extractor/inserter similar to the hopper, but only horizontal extraction, but with rotatable insertion/extraction (right-click with the hammer to set the side for output, shift-right-click for input?). No GUI, and you won't be able to insert/extract from it with a machine. would transport four items at a time, but won't move them until it has four. Require lv/mv power, and to stand on a solid block. Make its inclusion a config option, default dependant on whether if fits normally, or not. Yellow/blue arrow on its base to indicate its I/O directions?
