An option in the config for how quickly you change the value of the controls, so holding down the throttle up button for a second wouldn't bring you to throttle yet, but instead it'd take 4 seconds for example.

This would improve the gameplay, because fine throttle or brake control, especially at low speeds, is basically impossible with powerful trains.
