I found a small solution couse it happened to me too.
The problem is that mod have set old multiblock variants and in book you have only part of it so to make casting and steam hammer you have to build old multiblocks.

In steam hammer as I seen it's only 1 block to do, but in casting it's all these sand in bricks plus one steel block

What do you mean regarding building the old multiblocks?

commented

Try yourself, if you build exactly the same multiblock as in 1.9.X then you use Large Wrench it will build fine, so problem is in multiblock made inside book.
You can see difrences when in 1.9.X you make multiblock but not submit it using wrench, then update to 1.10.0 and place another blueprint.
Only blueprints with changes are Steam Hammer And Casting, but changes aren't implemented to code, so it knows that multiblock is good, but don't know what is it, that's why it makes invisible multiblocks

The only think authors have to repair is multiblock inside book, not all multiblocks. Simple solution. But I can be of course wrong about it and it can be more complex

I did try building them myself as part of the troubleshooting for this issue, rather than using the book, but it gave the same result unfortunately. I'll try again though. Sadly, it's broken my world somehow, but I'll just use another as a test environment.

You need to downgrade to the old 1.9.1 1.16.5 IR and the old UMC and TAPI, also need to use java 8 if your doing this, build the machines on that version then updated back up to newest versions.

Can confirm that it seems to be a world-related issue for me - my existing world categorically refuses to complete loading locally or on a server if I'm running the latest versions of everything, but if I downgrade to 1.9.1 it will load. If I create a new world on 1.9.1 and make the machines, then upgrade to the latest versions of everything, it works normally. So something is borked somewhere which sadly means losing my existing world, it seems. Disappointing from a release version.

Known issue with 1.16.5
All newly placed machines do this

so how I can fix it to get it working again?

commented

Either go to a previous version (1.9.1) if you can, assemble the machines, and then upgrade; or you'll unfortunately have wait for a fix with a future update

FYI it's only the two named machines that have this issue in 1.10.0, hence the two previous issue reports on here with the same thing.

Regarding your workaround, I've tried this and using the previous full release version 1.9.1 (rather than test builds) and its matching version of UMC I was able to successfully place the previously troublesome machines, but after saving the world and updating server and client to the new IR and UMC versions I was unable to successfully boot the server due to an issue when preparing spawn region. Gets most of the way through and then just stops completely doing anything whatsoever, RAM usage stays static and CPU usage drops to virtually nothing, server can't be connected to and obviously doesn't finish booting. Sadge.
