Additional incentives to use passenger stock for player transport

Currently passenger stock is still not a good resource investment in multiplayer survival, except to generate villager payouts. This is partially due to the fact that most freight cars can also transport players, although in a lower quantity per car than passenger cars. However, the number of players that ride another player's train to a specific destination tends to be extremely small (though this also depends on other factors in the design of the server). As a result, freight stock is sufficient for both cargo and player transport, making passenger stock an expensive creation with no practical advantages (except the aforementioned villager payouts).

One way to resolve this is to make it so that only passenger cars, cabooses, and locomotives can carry players. Another way is to give passenger cars unique capabilities which can be enabled or disabled individually by modelers during resource pack creation. These abilities would give extra incentives for players to travel by trains using passenger cars.

Here are some ideas:

  1. Passenger car heating- used for healing players, removing negative status effects, or keeping TaN player temperature at a comfortable level. This could be done in four ways: individual solid fuel heater (for the earlier coal/wood stove heated coaches), individual liquid fuel heater, steam heater (see #217 ) or electric climate control (using Forge Energy from HEP equipped locomotives or axle generators).

  2. Onboard power supply: can come from cars with an electric power source and capabilities. Players riding in the car will have FE compatible tools (but not capacitors) in their inventories recharge over time.

  3. Vending interface: The right-click interface opens up a menu that riders can buy items from for the price of a specified item type and quantity. This can be used to provide buffet-style service in dining cars or selling relevant tools and other gear on the trip to a major destination.

  4. Integrated map: The right-click interface will display the contents of a player-inserted map to all riders.

These abilities could probably be applied to cabooses as well.

I dislike the blocking a player from being on freight cars. I use it as a brakeman riding position, which is still done to this day when switching, or making reversing moves.

The biggest incentive to use passenger cars would be if the players riding could eat food there (since there is no GUI). I would like to have real dining service on my tourist trains (food stored in the caboose, for example).

Using weapons out the windows would be great too but I don't know if it's possible with the collision boxes.

Interactivity within cars is planned with raycasting.

Cool! Is that going to rely on an upcoming feature in the base Minecraft game, or is it in the current roadmap for IR?
