I'm struggling with how not to pull items from my rolling stock when I may just pass over. I tried to use redstone signal but seems it only stop hopper from drop items but items are still pulled from rolling stock and stay in the hopper. to make my rolling stock not lose items I may need to fill the hopper with something else?

I know I can filter the item unloader with rolling stock type, but I want to control when to unload items.
