1. The models remain visible and present after being crouch-left-clicked and the car/loco being put into your inventory. Sometimes you get two of the car. This happens in creative; I haven't tested in survival.

2. Items go into an item loader underneath a tender, disappear, and are not loaded into the tender. They effectively just disappear from the game. Tenders still send items to their attached locomotive, but do not have items loaded into them.
