Now the double slabs mod kinda replaces the slab with a multiblock containing the 2 slabs. This sadly enough removes the ability to use the stations. Idk it would be neat if these 2 mods could work together.

I actually tried to do this the other day with a crafting station slab in the forge version. I right-clicked the station and it crashed the entire game. Some progress must have been made since you made this post, but as of now it is not functional.
