Mangrove trees (added in Minecraft 1.19) don't start their trunk at ground level, like other trees. When you grow one from a propagule, it grows roots and then a few (not a fixed amount) blocks up it starts with the trunk and leaves.
The Plant Gatherer works if I place it at the first log, but that means it needs to be placed manually each time a new Mangrove is grown.

The range add-on only increase the horizontal range, it would be good if there was a separate vertical range; the log does appear to always grow above the propagule.
