from the start I had a range 11 upgrade, fluid push up and speed 1/speed 2.

essentially, where the picture in that album shows the pump currently, first drop was 2 blocks above it and the area below had a bunch of gc oil.

it ran for a while then just stopped and I could see from side a bunch more oil still pooled around it.

I cleared some of the cobble around the bottom and placed it where you see it and it ran for some more time but then stopped again and u can see from the pic it still has more oil to grab.

The pump scans in the top Y and pumps from the top to the bottom, if there isnt fluid at the top Y it wont pump the fluids below it. With lava in the nether is how it better works.

ahh that makes alot of sense then. yeah all the fluids that are still available to it are on the next Y down.

this makes using this pump to pump oil which is usually spherical in shape rather problematic tho. I know for a fact that exu1 enderthermic pump worked in a different way and would actually pull things from them. could you be bribed for altering the algorithm to allow this maybe as a enhancement on your todo list? I'll give you a cookie :)
