Unsure if issue or not but the block placer doesn't upgrades, at least not the ones I've tried.
Specifically I'd like to use a range upgrade on it, and I feel that it should be able to take one, as the tooltip specifically lists 'BASE AREA: 1x1' and to refer to something has have a base anything tends to mean that's a starting range that it can increase from. it would be great if I could use this to cover a larger area and place blocks of my choosing downdown rather than having to place 50 block placers of dif mods hoping for the desired effect if at all possible.

In the tooltip doesnt say that accepts range upgrades like other machines, working like intended.
