Plant Interactor - Not working across its displayed vertical range

Plant Interactor will only harvest items that are at its same Y-level, despite the range box extending several blocks above it. See screenshot below - Cherries above the interactor are not harvested. This used to work (even as recently as 1.12.2-235 I believe).
