Short description:

Please add "write-once variable cards" (variable card crafted with redstone or something) that can't be overwritten/cleared. Players who do more ID have tons of variable cards like rotate_3_1_2 etc, and its super easy to reset them by accident. it would be super helpful to have ability to stop this accident from happening.

I would be more in favor of a locking mechanism, that still allows overwriting, but only after explicit confirmation.

What about smelting to fix, craft with water bucket to make writable or erase. Nobody™ will do that by accident.

You could do what Vanilla copper and Hexcasting foci/spellbooks do and use wax.
