Issue type:

  • ๐Ÿ› Bug

Short description:

Visual freeze, Minecraft not responding (Windows), though server game sounds can still be heard in the background. Happens upon using the scroll wheel to extract an item from storage through the

Steps to reproduce the problem:

Setup is a Omni-Directional Connector on a small network connected to 7 Sophisticated Storage (maxed tier) chests (about 3/5ths full) and a Portable Remote Terminal.

  1. Open the Remote (stored in a Curio slot)
  2. Use scroll wheel to extract one item from storage. (Chance of it happening: seemingly very rare)

Game immediately freezes, visually. However it remains connected to the server and events happening on the server still make audible sounds through the client, despite the freeze.

Only escape is to kill the Minecraft Application.

Expected behaviour:

Freezeless. :)

@Jack-McKalling Can you reproduce this by any chance?

I let it go 45 minutes or so once it froze, but it didn't unfreeze until the server kicked me for idleness, at which time the client went back to the main menu and was fine after that. I even logged in again.

I think I'm able to duplicate it, however. I use the search feature with a hashtag prefix (to search the tooltip text) and that seems to be the trigger. In particular, I was looking for the contents of the cardboard box in one case, and "Not yet eaten" for food.

Thanks for reporting!

I don't see anything special in your server logs.

Could you try waiting a bit longer once it freezes, in the hope it self-closes and produces a stacktrace?

If that doesn't work, could you try reproducing without any other mods installed?

Anything else you could tell us @Nonsanity?

No, I'm not able to unfortunately. This is a type of bug that's really hard to reproduce; exact steps are inconsistent or vague, it might not even always happen with the correct steps. So I may just not have caught it when it's actually affecting me as well.
