Mismatched mod channel list

When attempting to join a server, with or without the mod, you get the "Mismatched mod channel list" error. Happens even if only mod.

Inventorysorter: 1.14.4-15.2.0
Forge: 1.14.4-28.0.29

My server worked ok with the mod installed on both client and server. not sure if you tried this?
