Corrupted my chunks

The NBT data in the chests I commonly used the sorter mod on have been incorrectly saved and now all of my chests are empty.

commented

Beds were reset, too. Was there anything you could do to undo the corruption? Or are we both cooked?

commented

Can confirm, had the same happend on my chunk. all NBT data was lost, signs where blank and invisible, every container empty banners where reset to white and so on..

Multiple chunks where affected at diffrent times.
removing the mod stopped it from happening

2 things:

1: make sure you have the latest version of Inventory Sorter - it's an older one in the pack. But it's also "beta" for a reason, issues can happen.

2: if you get your items back when you destroy items that sounds to be a rendering issue. EMF/ETF (which are in the pack) can cause problems like that or any of the other mods in there that tinker with how entities are rendered.

Inventory Sorter does not touch NBT data aside from on your player character when storing your settings. The chest manipulation is literally "take this slot and put it on this slot" all with Minecraft functions, it doesn't touch the way things are stored.

Unfortunately it's pretty likely that your issues weren't caused by Inventory Sorter.
If you do experience something again, please make sure to grab the logs and upload them with https://mclo.gs/

In a personal world I had EMF/ETF make all my chests, beds and signs disappear so maybe that might be your culprit

commented

Yeah Beds were gone too or invisible for me, I just broke every invisible block and gave me most of my stuff back that I could remember, I figure theres nothing much else you can do unless you have a backup

I play on 1.21.5 fabric version we do have some other mods but sadly no logs since there never was a crash involved nor did we ever exactly see when it happened :/

commented

What in the world, that sounds very weird!
Which version did you use? Any other mods or logs I can look at?

commented

What other mods do you use? Inventory Sorter doesn't touch chest NBT data let alone beds or signs. It might be caused by a different mod but it's best to investigate! Can you send me the modlist?

Thats the import code for Curse forge, I'm not sure either if its that mod but I just saw the bug report here xD

commented

yeah, i dont know how to export the whoel modlist otherwise

commented

is that a modpack then?

commented

What's the name of the pack?

commented

Got it, checking it out

I too had the beta installed. I only had sodium and "leaves be gone" installed, as well, along with any other accompanying apis listed here It was the 2.0.0 version of inventory sorter.

commented

Sorry! First time using Git, didn't mean to close.

Furthermore, I don't have any sort of logs or anything either :(. i definitely lost all the NBT data, (breaking invisible blocks or not) for a couple chunks, but shulkers were surprisingly left untouched.

I can actually send you the world file if you would like, and you can investigate. The coords are -79.2 78.0 376.52 , and the file can be found here and the file name is inventorysorter-fabric-2.0.0-beta.3+mc1.21.5

commented

I'd need your mods folder too please :)

commented

Haha, no worries, I appreciate you taking the time to report it!

Unfortunately I still don't think it has anything to do with the inventory sorter I'm afraid.
I do have a couple of questions:

  • Which beta versions? There's 4 in circulation. What's the file name?
  • What does "corrupting chunks" mean? Is it that things become invisible and empty or other?
  • Do you know how I could try and reproduce it?

While it might not be this mod, I might be able to help figure out which one it was

As soon as I turned off Sodium and Iris, these appeared:

The beds needed a block update but the ender chest appeared instantly.

Did you have any resource packs on at one point?

Thanks, checking now!

Going to close this for now. I am both glad that it's not my mistake but sad that I couldn't help much more. Hope you find what's actually causing the issues. I'd definitely keep an eye on rogue resource packs or rendering related mods
