Compat causes crash on Fabric with any version of compat

Sorry about the messy title. I'm playing on a server using this Fabric modpack. I'm getting crap FPS with Create using shaders so have tried to add this Compat mod, but the game crashes the instant the minecraft window appears - I've tested every compatible version of the mod.
