Copycat blocks become translucent when part of a contraption

I initially noticed this issue while playing an entire modpack, though I've tested and confirmed that this happens with a minimal mod installation too:
The screenshot I attached above uses BSL v8.2.05 as an example, but I can confirm this is also the case with the latest versions of Complementary (including Complementary Reimagined), Rethinking Voxels, SEUS Renewed, SEUS PTGI HRR, AstraLex, Kappa Shader, and Nostalgia Shader. Sildur's Vibrant Shaders doesn't have the same transparency issue, but renders water through the copycat blocks:
The modlist I tested this on:
- create-fabric-0.5.1-d-build.1161+mc1.20.1
- fabric-api-0.88.1+1.20.1
- indium-1.0.21+mc1.20.1
- iris-flywheel-compat-1.20.1-0.2.1
- iris-mc1.20-1.6.4
- sodium-fabric-mc1.20-0.4.10+build.27
Here's my Minecraft log if it helps (no crashes though) https://pastebin.com/9weftrnv
