Vanilla advancements allow giving items as rewards. Sadly the game does not really show you which rewards you get, so I was hoping to at least use Highlighter to make sure players notice the new items, was disappointed that this did not work.

Unfortunately, the way items are given to players when awarded from advancements is the same way that items are added to the inventory when moving them out of containers, etc. I don't think that shift-clicking an item out of a container should have a highlight marker so fixing this issue is going to be a bit more complicated than anticipated.
I will consider looking further into this for a future update, but that will not be for a while.
