Issue:

When in JEI's "Hide Mode" and toggling an item's visibility by clicking on it in, its hidden status is displayed as a red background.

This approach usually works great, but becomes unclear when toggling the visibility of items with icons that take up the full width of the item slot. For example, this is a frequent issue with various liquids added by mods. If the liquid is completely opaque, it is impossible to tell whether or not the item has been selected to be hidden.

Request:

Add/change indications that an item has been hidden that will be visible even for items that take up the full width of an item slot.

One approach could be to change the "CTRL-Click to Hide" and "CTRL-right-click to Hide by Wildcard" tooltip text to "Ctrl-Click to Show" and "CTRL-right-click to Show by Wildcard" when the item is already set to be hidden.

Another approach might be to render a tinted overlay over the item icon instead of changing the background behind it.
