Item tooltip components returned from `getTooltipImage` are not rendered

Using MC 1.18.1, Forge 39.0.58, and JEI 9.2.1.69

Rendering items like bundles in JEI does not show the components declared by the item.

Expected:

Instead, this occurs: (note: needs bookmarking a /given bundle, because they are hidden in creative/JEI)

Note that the vanilla recipe book does not show these either.
