One of my friends was a jerk with the Rod of Lyssa from Reliquary, and stole all the weapons from all my kobolds. It was possible, of course, for me to arm normal kobolds with axes, but the poor warrior kobolds were rendered permanently useless. Warrior kobolds should be able to accept axes, swords, tridents, crossbows, shields, and perhaps even armor.
