Legacy4J doesn't play nice with Steam Input

Did some more testing today and can confirm that the majority of the issues I've had with this mod are it's problems with Steam. When the game is running without Steam in the background it performs almost flawlessly. However, having Steam running essentially breaks everything.
If you are using fabric you can use controlify
i looked at the video and i have to ask: do you have the desktop bindings on steam set to disabled? i'm asking this because the default desktop bindings on steam bind the left stick and dpad to the arrow keys (leading to the menu navigation issues,) the A button being Enter (double pressing the Accept Button,) and the right stick being bound to the mouse (leading to weird camera movement.) it's reading double inputs because the game reads the controller, then steam reads it and adds the translated keyboard and mouse inputs on top.
either try that or open the game through steam so it never gets access to the original controller and reads steam's emulated xbox controller.
