Looking at a non-empty item frame shows the description of the item inside but adds item frames to known_entity_type.json despite not showing the item frame description

If you look at an item frame that has an item inside it, it shows the description of the item inside the item frame rather than the description for item frame items. This may make sense but it still adds item frames to the list of known entities even though the item frame description was not shown to you. On LCE it always shows the description of the item frame, not its content, which is consistent with what is added to the list of known descriptions.
