[Bug/Glitch] Client joining server that doesn't have mod crashes client when using gui or encountering gui interaction

Bug/Glitch Occurrence Context
Using the sliders in the setting when in the server without legacy mod crashing the game, going near a villager crashes the game, basically anything modified by legacy crashes the game.

What happened wrong?
Can't use mod on servers w/o mod even though said i can use on server not having said mod.
I did make my own jar to add fake sounds for legacy back and legacy mouse in the menu, and turned off piston and cauldron mixins, though i dont think anyone will go through what i did.. this is just a pointer not a demand by me. thanks
