Light level displays as mob spawnable in mushroom biomes

Previously (in 1.15) no light level was shown when inside a mushroom biome (presumably because hostile mobs are unable to spawn there regardless of light level). This was very useful for mob proofing without necessarily using light within / near these biomes. In 1.16.1 this is not the case. It would be great if this could be re-added / fixed, possibly with a mod menu configuration option.
