When loading a world, if you have the button turned on to allow the player to set their Game Mode, and a template that has the player in a certain state, the game ignores the Game Mode set in the new world menu.

If the template has the player in creative, and you set the game mode in game to place the player in a survival state, the player will load into the new world in creative mode
