Forge updates ever week or so on the current Minecraft version, generally sudden crashes are caused by a change there. This case was a change in registration from a string identifier to a ResourceLocation identifier, which is also why you'll probably notice a ton of warnings about tile entity mappings in the log now.
I normally do update the Forge requirement if there's a reason to, but I wasn't aware that the new method was that new.

Update Forge to the latest version and see if it still happens.

Thank you, that seems to have solved the problem. I didn't think to try that cause

A) I didn't know Forge updated.
B) Normally you get a warning screen when a mod needs a newer version of Forge.

No problem, I'll try to check Forge from now on before posting issues. Thanks again.
